Dorna Arini (Suceava) Takes the Step Towards a “Smart Village”: Investment of Over One Million RON in Smart Infrastructure and Digital Governance

Dorna Arini (Suceava) is entering the map of communities focusing on digitalization and smart infrastructures. The commune’s City Hall recently awarded a contract worth 1,083,889.77 RON (excluding VAT) to Vodafone Romania, for the implementation of the project “Development of the local management system through smart infrastructures and a digital governance platform”

The project has two main components:

• Lot 1: execution of works for smart infrastructure – installation and integration of security devices and equipment aimed at modernizing local administration.

• Lot 2: development of a local governance platform and a dedicated application, designed to facilitate citizen–administration interaction.

The investment targets the installation of equipment within the commune’s built-up area. These devices aim to integrate a smart governance ecosystem, in accordance with the principle “DNSH” (Do No Significant Harm), meaning compliance with sustainability standards and minimal environmental impact.

The project involves smart security systems (video cameras, sensors, monitoring infrastructure), connecting them into an integrated network, and developing an online platform through which residents can access digital public services.

The impact on Dorna Arini residents is direct and visible. By implementing the security infrastructure, the local administration will be able to monitor public spaces more effectively, reducing crime risks and increasing citizen protection. The digital platform will shorten the distance between the City Hall and residents. Requests, complaints, and payments can be made online, reducing bureaucracy and time spent at service desks. Digitalizing processes means better decision traceability, access to up-to-date information, and reduced operational costs.

A digitalized and safer community becomes more attractive to investors, as well as to tourists, especially since Dorna Arini is located in an area with high tourism potential. The project can encourage technology use among locals, creating the premises for a more connected and digitally prepared community.
