Major Investment of 457,451,097 Lei to Transform Vaslui County’s Infrastructure: The “South-West Strategic Road Axis” Project Takes Shape

The Vaslui County Council has recently approved a series of amendments to the “South-West Strategic Road Axis” project. The total investment amounts to 457,451,097 lei, including VAT

Of this amount, 162,234,296 lei will represent the local contribution, secured from the local budget by the deadline of December 31, 2029. “This will be a second ring road for the municipality of Bârlad,” stated Ciprian Trifan, Vice President of CJ Vaslui.

The project was submitted in June 2024 to obtain funding through the North-East Regional Program 2021-2027. This initiative aims to enhance the mobility of the population and goods in 11 administrative-territorial units and improve access to quality educational, social, and healthcare services in the transit areas. The investment is set to rehabilitate and modernize 73.146 km of county roads (DJ 243 and DJ 243A).

“We are making every effort to sign this project. We are trying to find all funding sources to get started. We are eager to build this road, which will be divided into two lots. It will be a second ring road for the municipality of Bârlad,” Trifan added.

The Managing Authority of the North-East Regional Program requested the Vaslui County to submit a series of documents for the contracting stage, with a deadline of August 29, 2024, which was later extended. Following the analysis of the requests, the designer sent CJ Vaslui the requested documents and revised estimates related to eligible and ineligible expenses within the project.

Thus, expenses related to traffic safety, lighting works, intersection arrangements, and site organization were reclassified, resulting in a total value of ineligible expenses of 57,590,877 lei (746,036 lei higher than the previous situation).

The total value of the project is 457,451,097 lei, including VAT, of which the non-reimbursable eligible amount that can be accessed from the PR 2021-2027 is 295,216,800 lei.
