Vaslui Hospital No. 2 to receive €80 million in funding! When will the money be allocated?

A new call for projects has been launched, with a budget allocation exceeding €589 million, aimed at financing the expansion, rehabilitation, and construction of seven new healthcare facilities under the Health Program.

Representatives of the European Commission and the Monitoring Committee of the Health Program have decided that nine essential investments for Romania’s healthcare system, which could not be completed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), will be continued and funded under the 2021–2027 Health Program.

Among these projects is the completion of the new building wing of Vaslui Hospital No. 2.

The President of the Vaslui County Council, Ciprian Trifan, stated that transferring the project to a new funding program is a complex process involving several administrative steps.

“This is a transition from one budget to another. Funds are being identified within European project budgets in order to make adjustments and secure the necessary amounts for the nine hospitals, including Vaslui Hospital No. 2. All documentation is being restructured under the Health Program, reanalyzed, and then a financing agreement will be signed. In practical terms, the first funds are expected to become available around March 2026,” Ciprian Trifan explained.

According to county authorities, the new building of Vaslui Hospital No. 2 is scheduled for completion next year. The project, initially launched under the NRRP, will be completed with non-reimbursable European funds through the Operational Health Program, with a total financing value of €80 million.

The investment includes the demolition of existing structures and the construction of two new buildings: Building 1, designated for the Psychiatry and Chronic Care Department, and Building 2, which will house the Infectious Diseases Department. The total capacity will be 248 beds.

The project also предусматриes the construction of auxiliary facilities — including a generator unit, heating plant, oxygen station, waste management building, water management facilities, a rainwater retention basin, and a pre-treatment station — as well as the development of utility networks and vertical site planning works.
